Rachel Vanderpool, RD Registered Dietian/ Office Administrator - Framingham

Rachel is a Registered Dietitian with an interest in holistic mind-body nutrition with science-based functional medicine. She was born outside of Philadelphia, PA and grew up in the Dominican Republic. From a young age, she has been interested in the power of food as medicine and cultural identity. Her bicultural upbringing greatly informs her ability to relate with people from different walks of life. She is also fluent in Spanish.

After receiving her undergraduate degree, Rachel worked in non-profit social services for three years. During that time, she met a nutritionist who inspired her to switch careers. Rachel spent the next two years studying holistic health education through the National Institute of Whole Health to see if nutrition was her true calling. She then continued to study dietetics at Simmons College in Boston, MA and completed her dietetic internship at University of Virginia Health Systems in Charlottesville, VA. She also interned at The Celiac Center in Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and assisted with the Gluten Free Wellness Retreat in Carlsbad, CA.

Rachel’s counseling style is based on developing a connection with patients in a judgment-free zone in order to comfortably find self-acceptance and enjoyment in foods that nourish the body and mind. Through this relationship, she is able to tailor nutrition and lifestyle recommendations to help patients reach optimal health.

Rachel is an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Integrative and Functional Nutrition practice group. She is also passionate about food sustainability and supporting local farmers. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, ethnic cuisine, dance, studying Portuguese, comedy shows and podcasts.
