6 Easy Ways to Stay Hydrated

During the summer, do you spend plenty of hours in the sun and try to stay as active as possible outside? Due to the high temperatures, this could
also mean an increased risk of dehydration for individuals of all ages. We want to make sure you are staying hydrated so you can beat the heat
this summer. Here are some ways to keep you sipping all day and meet your daily fluid needs now and also, all year long:

Carry a Water Bottle Wherever You Go

Place your water bottle right next to your wallet and keys so you don’t forget to grab it when you leave the house. If you prefer colder water,
look into purchasing a double-walled water bottle so your drink stays chilled even in high temperatures.

Infuse Water with Summer Flavors

When water starts to get boring, infuse it with some flavor to make it more exciting. You can add ingredients like cucumber and basil to a water
bottle or pitcher overnight to enjoy a very refreshing drink the following day. Enjoy some slices of lemon or lime in your H20 to add some taste.
Throw in slices of fruit like peaches and strawberries to your water to create a light summer flavor. These simple additions will make you crave
water all summer long.  Try some of these creative recipes for infused
water.

Enjoy Foods with High Water Content

Believe it or not, many fruits and vegetables like watermelon, cantaloupe, cauliflower and zucchini are primarily made of water. These food items
can be a great compliment to your daily water intake.

Find Alternative Hydrating Beverages

Water is not the only beverage option to keep you hydrated. Seltzers are available in delicious flavors and can offer a little carbonation with
a hint of flavor. Additionally, coffee and tea could be enjoyed over ice to add to your daily fluid needs and help you cool off.

Rehydrate for Optimal Physical Activity Performance

For athletes and other individuals taking part in moderate to high-intensity workouts, don’t forget to stay hydrated before, during and after physical
activity. Dehydration can negatively affect your health and your sports performance. At this intensity level, sports drinks may be the best option
to stay hydrated. For more moderate physical activity, water is the best way to meet your fluid needs when exercising.

Be Mindful of Alcohol Intake

Alcohol can increase your risk of dehydration. If you are enjoying an adult beverage, make sure to stay hydrated by drinking at least an equivalent
glass of water.
